About me
I'm a PhD researcher studying how parasites integrate into freshwater zooplankton ecology, using molecular-based techniques, such as DNA metabarcoding, to reveal the 'black box' of zooplankton parasitism.
I'm co-supervised by the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology and based at the UKCEH Lancaster site, using the Cumbrian Lakes for my fieldwork. I am also a member of the Global Lakes Ecological Observatory Network 'Parasites into PEG' Research Group.
I am a keen science communicator and volunteer for a range of outreach projects, mainly targeted at inspiring young people to consider a career in science.
Prior to my PhD, I completed a BSc in Marine Biology with Professional Studies at Queen's University Belfast and a MSc in Conservation and Biodiversity at Lancaster University.
